I have installed the Autify Recorder, but cannot record
To start using the Autify Recorder, please complete the initial setup first.
For instructions, please see how to set up Autify.
If you have completed the initial setup and are still unable to record, please check the following four items.
1. Preparation
Open your Chrome browser and enter the following URL in the search bar:
chrome://extensions/?id=lmmpjincoilkndipbbpaojcpamfacbel
If you do not see Autify Recorder (New) after entering the URL and instead see the following screen, it means Autify Recorder was not downloaded.
In this case, please follow step 3 onwards of this article and download the extension.
2. Check Autify Recorder settings
This screen allows you to check the settings of the Autify Recorder Chrome extension.
The screenshot below shows what it should look like.
2-1. Was the Autify Recorder extension installed?
Check to see if Autify Recorder (New) is displayed.
2-2. Is it activated?
After you've verified that Autify Recorded was installed, check to see if it's enabled.
If it's off, click the toggle to turn it on.
2-3. Check if site access is restricted
Check that Site Access is set to "On All Sites".
If access is restricted, Autify Recorder will not be able to record even if it has been downloaded and activated.
If you receive messages such as "This extension does not provide additional site access" and you are unable to change the setting, your browser settings may be controlled by your organization. In this case, please contact your security team.
2-4. Is it allowed in Incognito?
Please turn on Allow in Incognito.
If the Allow in Incognito option is not available on Autify Recorder's settings page, please refer to the following article:
I don't see "Allow in Incognito" on the Autify Recorder extensions page. How can I display it?
2-5. Does the JavaScript code capture unexpected MessageEvents?
Because Autify Recorder uses MessageEvents to record events such as clicking an element or inputting a text, it could make Autify Recorder unavailable to record anything if the JavaScript code on the website capured MessageEvents and did not expect that, which could result in an error.
To avoid this issue, please make sure that the JavaScript code on the website ignores unexpected MessageEvents.
Error messages while recording
If you get the message “To start recording, install the Autify Recorder Chrome extension” when you try to record a scenario, check the settings as described in 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, and 2-4 above.
If you see the message "Autify Recorder is not enabled or not installed. Please enable it from the Chrome Web Store" at the top of the Scenario Details page, check the settings described in 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, and 2-4 above.
If the problem persists...
After checking that the above four items are set up, but you are still unable to record, please contact our Customer Support Team.
