Overview
In addition to cloud devices, NoCode Mobile supports creating and running test scenarios with local devices (your own physical devices).
Although preparing and setting up real devices takes more effort compared to cloud devices, there are several unique advantages:
- A smoother recording experience
- The ability to run tests on device/OS combinations that NoCode Mobile does not yet support
- Support for functions that cannot be tested on cloud devices
Local devices are available on every plan, with no limit on the number of devices you can use nor the number of tests you can run concurrently (There is a limit on the number of simultaneous recording sessions).
How to use
Using local devices requires installing and setting up additional tooling.
Please refer to the following documents for iOS and Android setup:
- Setup guide for recording and test execution with a local device (iOS)
- Setup guide for recording and test execution with a local device (Android)
After you complete the setup and connect a device, the local device will appear in the device-selection dialog when you start recording or run a test.
By default, only the user who connected the device can use it. You can change the device-sharing settings so that other users in the same workspace can also access the device.
Features available only on local devices
Since you can freely configure the state of a local device, you can prepare tests such as:
- Signing in with a test Apple/Google account
- Inserting a SIM card so the device can receive SMS
- Installing dependent apps or signing in to other services
- Setting the device/OS to a specific state
You can also test connecting to other equipment via Bluetooth with the local device.
